Hi Sweet Friends!
Today, I am back with a new bookish post for you all! I thought it would be fun to do a round-up of books I’ve read that either take place during autumn or have cozy fall elements woven within. I won’t dive into each or we’d be here all day but I’ll share insight into my very favorites.
First up is How Sweet It Is: Event planner Kate Sweet is famous for creating the perfect happily-ever-after moment for her clients’ dream weddings. So how is it that her best friend has roped her into planning a bestselling horror writer’s book launch extravaganza? But the second Kate meets—or rather, accidentally maims—the drop-dead-hot Drake Matthews, her well-ordered life quickly transforms into an absolute nightmare. Drake Matthews is tired of the spotlight and tired of his reputation as the Knight of Nightmares. He’s actually a really a nice guy! And now Kate and Drake find themselves changing up the rules, and this plot twist might just surprise everyone . . . including themselves.
I adored this book! It is THE perfect autumn/halloween rom com. I truly couldn’t recommend it more. It’s spooky and sweet, has inappropriate halloween costumes, pumpkin carving contests, and some spicy romance all wrapped into a perfect fall read.
Second is The City’s Bakers Guide to Country Living: When Olivia Rawlings—pastry chef extraordinaire for an exclusive Boston dinner club—sets not just her flambĂ©ed dessert but the entire building alight, she escapes to the most comforting place she can think of—the idyllic town of Guthrie, Vermont, home of her best friend Hannah. But the getaway turns into something more lasting when Margaret Hurley, the cantankerous, sweater-set-wearing owner of the Sugar Maple Inn, offers Livvy a job. Broke and knowing that her days at the club are numbered, Livvy accepts. With the joys of a fragrant kitchen, the sound of banjos and fiddles being tuned in a barn, and the crisp scent of the orchard just outside the front door, Livvy soon finds herself immersed in small town life. And when she meets Martin McCracken, the Guthrie native who has returned from Seattle to tend his ailing father, Livvy comes to understand that she may not be as alone in this world as she once thought.
Oh this book, Its one I wish I could re-read all the time. It is an absolute favorite of mine. It is so wholesome and heartwarming and heartbreaking all wrapped into one. This book feels like a hug. You can feel the warmth exude from it. There is baking, autumn activities, falling in love with a cutie lumberjack and so much more.
Third is The Little Bookshop on the Seine: Bookshop owner Sarah Smith has been offered the opportunity to exchange bookshops with her new Parisian friend for 6 months! And saying yes is a no-brainer – after all, what kind of a romantic would turn down a trip to Paris? Even if it does mean leaving the irresistible Ridge Warner behind, Sarah’s sure she’s in for the holiday of a lifetime – complete with all the books she can read! Picturing days wandering around Shakespeare & Co, munching on croissants, sipping café au laits and people-watching on the Champs-Elysees Sarah boards the plane. But will her dream of a Parisian Happily-Ever-After come true? Or will Sarah realise that the dream isn’t quite as rosy in reality…
Contrary to the cover the book does take you through the autumn season in Paris which is SO magical. Imagine a cozy bookstore, with autumn wind blowing leaves about, and romance mixed into one. I love Rebecca Raisin’s writing because the way she makes it so atmospheric is captivating. You feel fully transported to Paris and like you are living alongside the main characters. This is another one I wish I could read for the first time again so I could re-experience the magic of the story.
Next, I am going to share a few favorites without the full descriptions but are books I have adored and think you should absolutely add to your list! I can’t recommend One for Sorrow The Magpie Pie Society enough. It isn’t set during autumn but it is the perfect spooky autumnal read. A secret society, a dead girl, and takes place in a mysterious boarding school in England. What more do you need? If you are looking for Fantasy that takes place in the Fall definitely grab A Discovery of Witches, it’s like a grown up twilight mixed with light academia. I always re-read harry potter in the fall and think there is literally no better series to dive into. You also can’t go wrong with any Jenny Colgan book. My very favorite is the Bookshop on the Corner. I read it when it first came out and have read every book of hers since! I now want to re-read The Bookshop on the Corner and dive back into the autumnal coziness only Jenny can create.
There you have it friends, my round up of books I’ve read that either take place in the fall or will make you feel wrapped up in an autumn hug when you read it.
I will be sure to add to this list as the autumn season continues!
