Pre-Fall Items I’m Loving

Hi Friends, It has been far too long. Longer than I’d ever wish to go between posting but my life has completely turned upside down and changed since I last spoke to you all. More on that later but today I had to share some pre-fall clothing items I am loving. It is September after all and my autumn loving heart swells saying that. The “ber” months are upon us and I couldn’t be more excited.

Are you girls shopping for fall clothes already? I have since late July when the Nordstrom Anniversary sale happened haha I can’t help myself! I know last year was a doozy when it came to fall and clothing in general but now that things are a little more normal are you buying things again to wear out and about? I am! I also have a bit of an excuse because I get to go into work each day. I am loving the tones this year which are really rich warm browns, cognacs, warm creams, taupes, and burgundies. Those colors soothe my soul and just make me feel most like me if I am honest. I naturally gravitate towards them and love that they are so prevalent this year/season.

In the graphic above I show case some items that I’ve bought so far and just so can’t wait to wear. I will break each piece down for you and why I wanted to intentionally add it to my wardrobe. As I get older my love for fashion especially fall fashion hasn’t faded but my desire to have so many pieces has. I used to feel I needed all the things from that season, trend pieces galore but now I truly value intentionality and buying items with purpose and feeling behind it. Not buying into trends and really gravitating towards pieces I know I am going to have for a long time and will continue to suit my style in the years to come.

Let’s start with the Able sweater dress. I had to have this dress for a few reasons, it’s made out of sustainable materials, one of my favorite influencers (Jess Kirby) helped designed it, and it can be worn open like a long cardigan or closed like a dress. I thought it would be gorgeous paired with that H&M waist belt to synch in the waist and give it some shape. If I wanted to keep it very monochromatic then I would pair that entire look with the Cole Haan OTK Boots. These boots are stunning on, way prettier than showing up online. The color is a rich cognac brown, the faux suede is waterproof (!!!) yes you read that correctly and are flattering on the leg especially if you are on the shorter side like me! I am only 5’2″ and as much as I love the idea of a thigh high boot it isn’t really a reasonable look for me.

Next up are the Sezane items and oh goodness my heart just about stops when their fall collections come out. I honestly have to tell myself to resist because each piece is not only exudes gorgeous Parisian vibes and are also eco conscious and sustainably made but they also give off this feeling of being effortlessly chic. I promise you when you slip on one of their items you will feel that Parisian magic and feel like you are walking near the Eiffel Tower with crunchy leaves under foot. I selected this plaid top because I adore plaid/ flannel in the fall but don’t love the generic versions. Meaning the ones you could also wear to a country concert or to the pumpkin patch. I like my flannel to be more chic and fashionable and so when I saw this one I couldn’t help but snag. The colors and details are perfection. Now, let’s talk for my obsession with corduroy. Because we have quite the love affair going on. I think I’ve bought 4 pairs of corduroy pants recently because I can’t get enough. I adore it. I think if you style it correctly you look light academia esc and like you should be strolling through oxford on a brisk autumn day. That’s wear these pants come in! I love the details of the waist and the warm cream color. It’ll pair wonderfully with the warm toned sweaters I have and some booties!

Lastly, let’s talk about this sweet little suede mini skirt. If you know me you’d know I can not pass up a little mini skirt with a little boot action in the fall. It’s my signature look. A chunky knit, mini skirt, and some heeled boots. I feel most like myself in that type of outfit. It’s so easy yet looks so thought out and well put together. I grabbed this skirt in particular because of the color. I don’t have any skirts in this color in my wardrobe and I think it would pair so nicely with the sweaters I have. I will say the sizing of this skirt is a bit tricky. I would go with your usual size or up one because there is no give.

There you have it friends, a little roundup of some items I’ve purchased to kick off my absolute favorite season! I will be sure to take some photos in these pieces and share with you all so you can get a sense of how they look on! Also, I did want to say sorry for my absence. In the time I’ve been gone my life doesn’t look anything like it once did. The future I thought I would be destined to have is gone and the man I thought I would have that future with is also gone (didn’t die just not in my life anymore). I have been more heartbroken than I’ve ever been over this new reality but little by little I am trying to heal. Trying to come to a place of acceptance. Trying to keep putting one foot in front of the other and step into this new version of my life even though I haven’t felt like I really know how. But a big step in this healing is being able to show up here again, write what’s on my heart, and allow myself the gift of creativity again.

Thank you for giving me the space to step away but hope you will join me again through shared words and interests.
