Get into the Autumn Spirit..A Pre-fall Guide

Hello sweet friends,

I am so excited and happy to be back today with my first autumn-themed post! I know people feel strongly about it either being too soon or perfect timing and to me with it only being days away from the start of the ‘ber months…It is the ideal time to jump in and enjoy the absolute best season (at least to me)!

With that said, let’s jump in! For me, when it hits August I am already in the fall spirit but for those who are slower to jump in this post will hopefully spur those excited feelings for what’s to come. Now, to get in the spirit, you absolutely do not have to buy items to feel that nostalgic feeling only fall gives but I do think it’s a nice way to transition from what summer offers into fall.

My first tip (and biggest) is to read a book that is set in Autumn. There is nothing more atmospheric and spirit-inducing than reading a book that is setting the scene for you with crunchy leaves, descriptions of knit sweaters, Halloween approaching, etc. I highly recommend Ravenfall! It is actually a middle-grade book but so wonderful. It was a favorite read of mine this entire year! It is set in a small town in Oregon where all magical beings live, during autumn, where a magical inn throws a huge Halloween bash. But there is also something evil lurking that the two main characters must fight.

Next, grab yourself a fall-themed candle! This is one of the simplest ways IMO to get into Autumn. By filling your space with the lovely smells that are associated with the season it’ll transport you. My favorite is Apple Picking by PF Candle Co. I find it to be such a cozy and comforting scent.

My third tip if you are inclined is maybe buy a fall-inspired clothing item! If that’s a cinnamon-colored sweater to wrap up in even if it’s just inside with the AC on, or a pair of boots you’ve been drooling over, or an accessory that you’ll want to wear all season, I say do it! It is so fun to transition what we wear to meet what the new season brings.

Tip number 4, is to switch out those light nail colors of spring/summer and go dark and bold! In all honesty, I love dark nails all year around but especially during this time of year. It feels moody and I love looking down at my nails and feeling that instant joy that it’s that time of year again to have deep burgundy nails, dark blues, earthy greens, etc.

Bake! (When I wrote that, I heard the Great British Baking Show in my head lol anyone else?) Anyway, baking is always such a calm and cozy activity for me and there is nothing better than doing so during this time of year. The spices, the types of baked goods, hot coffee, oh it’s just magic to me. I want to try the gluten-free spiced apple in the graphic above! It sounds delicious!

Lastly, if all of these feel a bit too autumnal for you but you want to do a little something, I suggest getting a fall-themed mug and sipping your favorite cozy beverage from it. It is something that leans towards the season without jumping in fully. I for one need no excuse to buy more mugs. I have too many and am always happy to add more to my collection!

Anywho, I hope this post gives you some ideas if you are ready to jump into that pre-fall spirit! On a side note, I am so happy to be writing again here. It feels like coming home.

Let me know if there are specific autumn posts you’d like to see!

Talk soon,
