Autumn Bucket List 2021

Happy Tuesday sweet friends! It truly feels like fall here and it’s making all of my October dreams come true. Today I wanted to share my annual fall bucket list post with you all. Each autumn I like to make a cozy bucket list of activities I want to do all season long. Creating it really gets me in the spirit and helps me truly enjoy my favorite season. I find I wait all year for fall and yet when it arrives it is fleeting so it’s important to me to do all the autumnal things to fully celebrate the season. I also want to say that I’m not impartial to a good fall IG post but it isn’t why I do these activities. Fall is a season of the soul and all of these fill mine up and make me feel fully me. With that said, let’s jump into the activities!

One) Decorate for Fall– I sneakily started doing this mid September haha because I couldn’t wait and I like to have my fall decorations up for as long as possible. I am NOT a Christmas tree up in November kind of gal. Nothing makes me happier than autumnal leaf garlands, spicy candles burning, pops of burnt orange everywhere, and of course lots of pumpkins! It was also my first year getting to decorate my apartment so that was truly such a happy experience.

Two) Buy all the Pumpkin Items at Trader Joes! I love doing this every year. Once fall rolls around it is like a fall explosion happens at Trader Joes and I love to grab everything pumpkin flavored haha. I am not too basic to admit I love me some Pumpkin Spice. I am currently making my way through all the yummy goodies and I will say I am gluten free and still was able to eat most of their offerings.

Three) Watch the Fall Harvest movies on Hallmark. I don’t know about you but I love the Hallmark channel haha. It’s always sweet and cozy which I personally need in the evenings. I can’t watch anything scary or intense after dinner because it keeps me awake. So I love throwing on Gilmore girls, vampire diaries, or a little hallmark to end a crisp fall day. I also LOVE Good Witch. It’s probably my favorite Hallmark series.

Four) Go for a Crisp Autumn Walk. This is one of my absolute favorite things to do this time of year. It’s so good for the soul to feel that crisp chilly air against your cheeks, hear the rustling of the leaves, and look at all the leaves changing. It honestly always feels like pure magic to me. I don’t take any second of it for granted.

Five) This goes with number 4 but Play in the Crunchy Leaves. As a kid did you ever play in the piles of leaves your dad swept up off the lawn? I get even more nostalgic during this time of year and playing in the leaves brings back so many sweet childhood memories. So I highly recommend awakening that inner child and throwing some leaves in the air and dancing in them while they fall.

Six) Have a Harry Potter & Twilight Marathon. This seems obvious right?? I mean there is nothing better than snuggling in after a long days work or on the weekend to watch Harry Potter or Twilight (IMO). I also love the classics like Hocus Pocus and Halloween Town. This is another tradition of mine and something I do every Fall. I just adore lighting my candles, wearing snuggly jammies, and putting on my comfort movies. What are your comfort movies?

Seven) Make Pumpkin and Apple Treats. I love cooking and baking all year round but especially love it during these sweet cozy cold months. I love fall cooking and baking because of the flavors and spices but also because of the softness it brings to my day knowing I am going to spend an hour making a delicious meal or treat. Everything softens and slows down during this time of year and getting in touch with the season through food is one of my favorite ways to cherish it. (these are yummy homemade gluten free apple cider donuts)

Eight) Buy some cute Fall clothes. Now this might only apply to me but as a massive fashion lover this is another key part of this season for me. To be honest most of my closet is catered to this time of year. I can’t get enough of the textures and colors. They just align with who I am so fully. Burgundies, burnt orange, rich browns, dark greens speak to my soul haha and I wish I could wear those colors all year round. I also love the boots, scarves, blazers, coats, accessories, ah I just love all of it truly. What’s your favorite thing to wear in the fall?

Nine) Take Pictures of the Leaves Changing. Doing this is SO much fun. I might not live in New England or Vermont but we still get gorgeous colors here. I also enjoy seeing the progression of them changing so I take pictures throughout the entire season. Fall teaches me so many sweet lessons like the real beauty in learning to let go. It is also a reminder that things don’t bloom all year and we don’t have to either.

Ten) Drink a Fall Inspired Drink: This one seems obvious but I like to make my own fall-inspired drinks. The only Fall thing I don’t like is the Starbucks drinks lol don’t hate me for saying that. They are just TOO sweet. It’s like drinking the pure syrup and you can hardly taste the coffee. So instead I make my own pumpkin spice lattes at home or make cozy spiced apple cider. If I were to buy a festive drink out and about I would definitely grab one from a more boutique coffee shop. They don’t make them as sugary.

Eleven) Go to the Pumpkin Patch: Each year since I was born my family and I go to Half Moon Bay here in Northern CA to the local pumpkin patches and truly soak up the magic that is fall in a small town where every corner is covered in pumpkins. It is something that I truly so look forward to each year and is one of my absolute favorite traditions. It’s also a tradition for me, the smallest in my family to get the biggest pumpkin I can find. I typically can’t lift it on my own and yet it makes me giddy to carve.

Twelve) Carve Pumpkins with my Family. As mentioned above, going to the pumpkin patch with my family to pick out pumpkins to carve together is a tradition so near and dear to my heart. It is something that brings such joy and I cannot wait to do it again this year. I will admit I am no master pumpkin carver haha. I do not do the intricate designs, I am more of a lets make it look silly or slightly scary. My sister on the other hand is amazing at creating intricate designs. This was mine last year and I named him Rufus the Dufus. I can’t wait for the day when I have my own family and we carry on this tradition.

Thirteen- Light your Fall Candles. This bucket list item is actually one of the most important to me. Might seem silly but I am so passionate about scents in my home and typically only like scents that come around at this time of year. I love all the fireplace, spiced apple or pumpkin, leaves type scents. So I basically buy all my candles for the year during autumn. That way my home can always smell like the coziness I adore about this season.

Fourteen- Wear your Favorite Fall Outfit. A few of my favorite fall outfits are Chunky knits, a mini skirt, and some tall boots, or a tight turtleneck, blazer, and faux leather leggings with ankle booties. Lastly, I love a mini dress with a duster cardigan thrown over the top or a coat with some OTK boots. I love mixing textures, colors, and patterns for a dimensional look. As I mentioned above, shopping for Fall is one of the things that brings me such great joy and then wearing an item or outfit I bought makes me so happy. It’s taken me years to truly solidify my style but I feel I really have now and it’s not for everyone but it sure makes me feel good and most like myself. I love timeless pieces and less trend-based clothing. I would rather invest in really gorgeous boots, let’s say that will last multiple years rather than the “it” boot of the season. Same with sweaters or coats etc.

Fifteen- Read Many Autumnal Books: I am a huge bookworm all year round but there is just something so special about reading in the fall. There is nothing like snuggling up with a warm drink and getting completely immersed in a story. I just finished The Ex Hex which is set in October and I completely adored it. Now I am reading The Witch Haven which I am also enjoying. I plan to read as many autumnal books as possible this fall.

Sixteen- Last but certainly not least is Enjoy this Fall Season to the Fullest! I mentioned above that I wait for Fall each year and when it arrives it feels like it goes too quickly so I make such a big and conscious effort to celebrate all that it is each day. That’s through doing things on this bucket list and also being present to all of its magic.

Let me know whats on your bucket list for this autumn!
